Mitsubishi Outlander GT
Fri, 03 Apr 2009The Mitsubishi Outlander GT will show at the New York Motor Show [ad#ad-1] The picture above is the Mitsubishi Outlander GT Concept (which is not a Photoshop mis-hap – just another version of a car maker’s ‘tease’ image, this time blurred). This is Mitsubishi’s efforts to make the Outlander more appealing, and from what we can see it’s taken a design cue from the Lamborghini Reventon, by putting a ‘Stealth Fighter’ nose on the front. Actually, as a blurred image, the front end does look a little reminiscent of the Lagonda Concept we saw at Geneva last month.
BMW Alpina D3 BiTurbo – a great diesel
Mon, 16 Mar 2009The BMW Alpina D3 BiTurbo - a brilliant, quick and economical everyday drive Alpina has turned out some stunning versions of the BMW range over the years (and some not so stunning – their 8 Series springs to mind) and they fill a gap that is either not profitable in small volume for BMW or, in some cases, a hole that BMW hasn’t plugged. And this one is a good hole to fill with the BMW Alpina D3 Bi-Turbo, a 3 Series diesel with the heart of a hot hatch. Alpina has taken the engine out of the 1 Series 123d and given it a boost to 240bhp, in the process dropping the 0-60 time to a very creditable 6.9 seconds But it’s not the sprint that count, but the way this peppy diesel unit delivers it.
Jaguar gets a helping hand
Mon, 22 Dec 2008It has been reported this morning that Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling have agreed to dip in to tax payers funds to help Tata, the owners of Jaguar and Land Rover. Along with most other car makers in the world, Jaguar and Land Rover has been hit hard by the current economic blight. But it seems that Tata has been hit by more grief than most.
