Peugeot 207 GTI (2007): first official pictures
Fri, 09 Feb 2007By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 09 February 2007 11:18 Peugeot 207 GTI: the lowdown Could this be the hot hatch to restore the sheen on Peugeot’s GTI badge? On the experience of the French company’s past few efforts, probably not – but the 207 GTI looks set to improve on the lacklustre outgoing 206. Headline-grabbing highlights include the same 175bhp turbo 1.6 as the latest Mini Cooper S; although it’s down on power compared with punchy 190bhp+ rivals like the Renault Clio 197 and Vauxhall Corsa VXR, a brief overboost facility unleashes 195lb ft of twist for overtaking moves in the top three gears to narrow the gap.
Ford Model T climbs Ben Nevis: Ford Heritage Images
Wed, 05 Jan 2011Ford Model T climbs Ben Nevis in 1911 (click for full size image) When the good Mr Clarkson decided Top Gear should do a piece about a Land Rover Discovery using its incredible off-road abilities to climb a mountain in Scotland we were all astonished that – despite a couple of hiccups on the way – he managed to get one of Land Rover’s finest up a mountain where cars were never designed to go. What’s even more astonishing is that Ford managed to do the same 100 years go, but they used a standard Model T and choose Britain’s tallest mountain – Ben Nevis – for the stunt. The 20 horsepower Model T was driven up Ben Nevis as a publicity stunt for Ford’s agent in Edinburgh.
Smart ForStars Concept revealed
Fri, 14 Sep 2012The Smart ForStars EV Concept has been revealed ahead of a Paris 2012 debut, previewing the next generation Smart ForTwo. Why the Smart ForStars Concept, you may ask? Well, as this is a concept Smart can be a bit daft, so the ForStars gets a panoramic roof – so you can see the stars – and a video projector in the bonnet scoop so you can watch the (movie) stars.
