Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse world speed record: Video
Mon, 29 Apr 2013We hoped that tease might be for something really interesting and new – perhaps the much rumoured 1600bhp Veyron or even the Galibier – but it was simply a new world record for an open-topped production car. Impressive, of course, but just more of what we expect from Bugatti, rather than something new and innovative. The new world record for the Vitesse was set at the VW facility at Ehra-Lessien where Chinese driver Anthony Liu took the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse to 254mph, creating a new world record for an open-topped production car and, more importantly for Bugatti, an excuse to produce a limited run of the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse WRC Edition with a black and orange paint job for €1.99 million each.

But whether the relatively low tech and the implication that this is the rebirth of MG Motors will be enough to persuade UK buyers in remains in doubt. What will help is a relatively modest entry point, and the MG3 is starting at £8,399 when it goes on sale in the UK in September.
Skoda Citigo Monte Carlo launches – costs from £10,590
Tue, 13 May 2014Skoda Citigo Monte Carlo (pictured) launches The Skoda Citigo may be a small city runaround, but that’s not stopping Skoda tagging the Monte Carlo badge on to give it a bit more appeal. The Skoda Citigo Monte Carlo has been launched with the usual array of tweaks and titivations Skoda likes to use on its Monte Carlo models, but no extra power. That means a trim level based on the mid-range Citigo SE spec with black highlights for the exterior on the alloys, front and rear spoiler, rear diffuser, grill and door mirrors and a lowering of the suspension for a more dynamic appearance.
