Fri, 07 Sep 2012With the production version of the MINI Paceman due to debut at Paris 2012 we have the first leaked photo of MINI’s Evoque challenger. It could be argued that the Range Rover Evoque has created a new premium SUV niche all for itself, but that’s not going to stop MINI going after a piece of the action. Volkswagen plans 4 million cars from one platform
Thu, 12 Apr 2012Volkswagen is pushing the global-platform concept to a level unprecedented in the auto industry, introducing a modular platform this summer that eventually will be the basis of microcars, sedans, crossovers and SUVs for its four largest brands. While automakers now share platforms across brands and sometimes even segments, the VW initiative that starts this summer is far more ambitious than anything seen so far. By 2017, some analysts estimate, the MQB platform that debuts with the Audi A3 eventually will be used in 4 million units a year--close to half of VW's annual production.
Korean Grand Prix Qualifying: Vettel on Pole for Red Bull
Sat, 05 Oct 2013Korean Grand Prix Qualifying: Vettel on Pole for Red Bull Sebastian Vettel may not the the most popular man in Formula One at the moment, especially after he claimed the reason his car was so good was that Red Bull worked whilst the rest of F1 played. But F1 isn’t a popularity contest, so Vettel’s arrogance – channelled in to his driving – sees him sitting in a commanding position, once again, in the drivers championship – 60 points clear of Fernando Alonso – as we go in to the Korean Grand Prix. And if this morning’s display is anything to go by, the only thing that will stop Vettel taking yet another drivers championship is mechanical failure.
