Classic Update Wiring Harness Kit
  • Fits:
  • 1964-1966 Ford Mustang
Please note: Classic Update Kits do not support Ammeters
Classic Update Kits give you one of the most complete kits on the market to “Make Wiring THAT Easy”. They are designed for specific year, make, and model configurations. The kit boasts many features making it the most complete system of its type in the industry!
  • Kit Features:
  • Correct replacement headlight switch with internal circuit breaker

  • Original Ford styled headlight switch connector.

  • Headlight enhancement relays allow you to run high-powered Halogen headlights.

  • Separate relay controlled circuit for cars that have stock or aftermarket fog or driving lamps

  • Correct replacement ignition switch for use with your original bezel and tumbler

  • Correct original ignition switch connector

  • Standard turn signal flasher and hazard flasher mounted on fuse panel; horn relay mounted on harness.

  • New ATO Fusebox fits in center of the firewall away from heater and A/C ducts and allows for easy fuse and circuit breaker accessibility.

  • Harness allows for most after market accessories such as; gauge packages, heat and air conditioning systems, power windows, etc.

  • All required hardware supplied.

  • Original switch connector bodies! (Exclusive to American Autowire)

  • Steering column connectors will plug directly into most after market steering columns.

  • Directions and an adapter with terminals are included for running a stock Mustang steering column.

  • Separate optional under-dash light sockets along with original dome/interior light wiring.

  • Instrument Cluster wiring is designed with a cluster harness disconnect system for easy service and assembly. The best aspect of the disconnect system is that any gauge cluster package can be easily and neatly wired in. This includes AUTOMETER, CLASSIC INSTRUMENTS, DAKOTA DIGITAL, STEWART WARNER, and VDO just to name a few.

  • Rear body harness assembly plugs into the main harness behind the left hand kick panel for easy accessibility and allows for original or custom routing. Rear body wiring includes backup light lead and ground wires, stop and tail light lead wires with proper molded light socket connections, third brake light wire and the correct license plate lead connection for use with your stock tag lamp. Fuel tank sender wire and sending unit extension are included.

  • New floor dimmer switch is provided. Wire length and connection accommodate original floor mount dimmer switch location.

  • Engine wiring includes feeds for coil, tach, water temperature, oil pressure, brake warning (with later updated extension if necessary), and electronic speedometer (if necessary). A heavy gauge alternator feed wire is provided for a typical 1 wire high-powered installation.

  • Front lighting includes extra long leads for special routing when custom under hood appearance is desired. All headlight, park light, fog light, and directional light leads are provided, as well as a switched trigger wire for electric fan relay (usually recommended with AC).
The early GM/FORD generators and externally regulated alternators are just not up to the task of providing power to an expanded wiring system like these classic update kits. The point of this kind of kit is really to allow people a way to upgrade and expand their wiring system and so an alternator upgrade is usually part and parcel to this kind of upgrade.

NOTE: These kits are recommended for MODIFIED original vehicles, not OEM restoration projects.

Note: This wiring is designed to work on Internally regulated alternator and have a 12v feed for the coil/distributor/ignition box. This kit IS NOT set up with a resistance wire for a standard, points type ignition system. It is wired with a full 12 volt primary ignition feed that is hot in both the start and run positions. It will support HEI, MSD, other electronic ignition systems, as well as computerized Fuel Injec- tion systems. If you wish to run a points type system, there are illustrations on the engine connection pages to do so. Extra parts that are not included in this kit will be required to complete that operation. (see our other items).

Volvo creates Inflatable Child Seat

Mon, 14 Apr 2014

Volvo is a brand famously associated with safety, so let’s hope its latest effort doesn’t turn out to be a load of hot air: the Swedish brand has come up with a concept for an inflatable children’s car seat. Called the Volvo Inflatable Child Seat Concept, this does exactly what it says on the tin – it’s a child seat that instead of being made of rigid material can be deflated and folded away for easy carriage when not required. On Bing: see pictures of the Volvo Inflatable Child Seat Concept Find out how much a used Volvo costs on Auto Trader Noting that “children’s car seats are historically bulky, hard to move and tedious to mount,” Volvo says its new rear-facing inflatable alternative weighs just 5kg – half the weight of an equivalent conventional model.

Ferrari P540 Superfast Aperta (2009) first pictures

Mon, 14 Dec 2009

A bespoke Ferrari built by the Italian supercar manufacturer's secretive Special Projects department has undergone its first shakedown test at the Fiorano test track. The Pininfarina-designed P540 Superfast Aperta was comissioned in 2008 by the necessarily wealthy Edward Walson, son of John Walson, the inventor of cable television. Based on the 599 GTB Fiorano, the one-off machine was inspired by a Carrozzeria Fantuzzi-designed model featured in the 1968 Fellini film Toby Dammit. 'I had always dreamed of designing sports cars,' said Watson. 'When I saw this film the decision came of its own accord: one day I would have 'my' Ferrari.

Mercedes A45 AMG (2013) first pictures of new hot hatch

Wed, 13 Feb 2013

This is the Mercedes A45 AMG: the first time Merc’s in-house tuning arm has tried its hand at building a hot hatch. Packing 355bhp, all-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch paddleshift transmission, the A45 AMG will outpace a Porsche 911, but cost less than £40,000. It’s on UK sale from July 2013, but if you can’t wait that long, Merc’s baby barnstormer is appearing at the Geneva motor show from 5 March 2013.
