The Playboy MX-5 Cup is the best racing no one's watching, says Mazda, because it's not on television. The company changed that on Wednesday by inking a deal with the Discovery Velocity channel. Deep cable jokes aside, the MX-5 Cup does present some of the best parity in racing, as well as drivers racing for the love of the sport.

918 Alert! Porsche's stinging spyder grows closer to becoming reality

The first fully road-going prototype of Porsche's upcoming 202-mph hybrid-powered 918 Spyder has been seen during shakedown runs at the company's R&D center in Germany. Porsche released its own lightly disguised photographs of the cars being tested. The mules are “camouflaged” in livery meant to summon the famous 917 racer.

Porsche is reportedly planning a spiritual successor to the front-engine, rear-drive 928 coupe, according to U.K. magazine Autocar. The new grand tourer, which could wear the 929 nameplate, will be based on a shortened version of the Porsche Panamera platform and will be offered in both coupe and convertible body styles.
