Mercedes CL63 AMG 2011: Official
Sun, 25 Jul 20102011 Mercedes CL63 AMG We had the first leak of the 2011 Mercedes CL AMG last month when we first saw the nips and tucks Mercedes had inflicted on what we thought was about to be renamed the S Class Coupe (which apparently won’t now happen until the next all new car in 2012/2013). That was followed up by the official reveal of the bog standard 2011 Mercedes CL500 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier this month, with leaked photos of both the 2011 CL63 AMG and the CL65 AMG making an appearance a week later. Now we get the official deal from Mercedes on the CL AMG, with release this weekend of proper pictures and detail.
SAIC's Mobiliant wins 2013 LA Design Challenge
Mon, 25 Nov 2013SAIC has been revealed as the winner of this year's LA Design Challenge. The Chinese carmaker's entry, a single-seat urban public transit vehicle, was declared the victor after intense judging sessions took place throughout the LA auto show's second press day. The panel – which included Tom Matano, executive director, School of Industrial Design at San Francisco's Academy of Art University, and Stewart Reed, chair of Transportation Design at Pasadena's Art Center College of Design – combed through the entries, discussing their merits and how closely they fit the brief, before hearing the teams' presentations in the afternoon.
Q&A: David Townsend, GM global design director, user experience
Tue, 24 Jun 2014GM's new design director of user experience, David Townsend, has only been in the job just over a month. But with a remit extending to the interface design of every vehicle in GM's global portfolio, his influence will soon be widespread. After graduating from Art Center with a degree in transportation design, Townsend interned for Toyota but soon moved to Motorola, where he developed wearable Bluetooth technology and designed the familiar headsets worn by coaches in the NFL.
