Plans for Smart’s three-seat sports car uncovered in patent drawings
Mon, 03 Aug 2009Mercedes-Benz is developing a three-seat sports car for Smart. Depicted here in a series of European patent-application sketches obtained by AutoWeek, the radical new sports car forms part of an extended range of new Smart models planned for introduction by the middle of the next decade, including a more conventional four-seater to be produced in cooperation with Renault. Mercedes-Benz is reacting to increased competition from Toyota in the form of the iQ and the impending arrival of similar urban-based offerings from premium-brand rivals Audi and BMW.

Such a quick lap was only possible because of the 918 Spyder’s hybrid powertrain, says Porsche, and the new Nürburgring record is claimed to prove the potential its new supercar. Wed, 16 Jan 2013Nissan's Resonance concept has made its world debut at the 2013 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). The Resonance concept, created by Nissan Design America under the direction of senior vice president and chief creative officer Shiro Nakamura, features the ‘V-Motion', which starts from the tinted acrylic front grille with Satin Chrome accents and moves through the hood, framed by the boomerang-shaped headlamps. A sharp character line feeds from the headlamps above the pronounced wheelarches before dipping and then flicking upwards into the rear lamps.
