2012 Lotus Exige S: The video Duel

Mon, 26 Sep 2011

2012 Lotus Exige S Duel Video We’ve run a story or two on the 2012 Lotus Exige S – the one with the V6 from the Evora – in the run up to its reveal at Frankfurt. But now we get video too. An advert of any sort – even a promo video – is quite unusual for Lotus, but this is the second time this year we’ve seen a Lotus shedding rubber to entice buyers to see the products from Hethel as a viable option.

BMW vs Winter: all you need to know about BMW xDrive

Tue, 21 Jan 2014

By the CAR editorial team 21 January 2014 15:00 According to BMW, its ‘xDrive’ all-wheel drive system is more popular than any other premium brand’s four-wheel drive drivetrain. That’s right: in the UK, xDrive outsells Audi’s famous quattro system, not to mention Mercedes ever-expanding 4Matic range, and all-wheel drive version of Jaguar’s XF and XJ. If you had to name an all-wheel drive BMW off the top of your head, you’d probably plump for the X5, but the truth is that xDrive has infiltrated the majority of BMW models.

Tesla ‘drops’ entry-level Model S. But was it ever going to be available?

Mon, 01 Apr 2013

The 40kWh version of the Tesla Model S is being dropped by Tesla in the US, but we do wonder if Tesla ever had any intention of delivering it in the first place. Tesla’s big claim ahead of the arrival of the, very impressive, Model S – and a seemingly vital part of the US taxpayer funding Tesla to develop the Model S – was that they would deliver a car that cost under $50k, something the car industry thought impossible. But when the Model S was launched, Tesla did indeed have an entry-level model available with a 4okWh battery that was listed at $58,750 (taking it almost down to the $50k mark after the US taxpayer chipped in the EV bribe) so Elon Musk could, quite reasonably, claim Tesla had delivered.
