It's been almost 21 years to the day that Autoweek printed Matt DeLorenzo's column “Off the Line: There's room for fast, fun cars in diet of social responsibility.” And in those two decades plus, not much has changed except the vehicles themselves. For example, sports cars like the Bugatti Veyron and Pagani Huayra have astronomically high performance and safety levels; similarly, sport-utility vehicles that haul entire families (and most of their earthly possessions) achieve fuel economy similar to that of 1970s midsize sedans. Citroen DS Wild Rubis tease previews new DS SUV (video)

Citroen are teasing what appears to be a DS SUV ahead of the Shanghai Motor Show later in April – the Citroen Wild Rubis Concept. With French car makers suffering from a downturn in sales in recent years, one beacon of light has been the success of the resurrected DS badge to adorn a range of more upmarket Citroens. From initial scepticism when Citroen revealed their plans to re-badge and titivate mainstream Citroens with some DS history, we were won over by the brilliant DS3 which managed to turn the rather beige C3 in to a properly appealing – and properly fun – sporty hatch.

Ford Focus RS confirmed

During a press event at the Race of Champions last night, Ford officially announced that a ‘no-compromise RS model’ would go on sale in 2009. And if you can’t wait that long then Ford has released this teaser picture of what the car could look like.
