‘Fire up the Quattro!’ – Gene Hunt’s Audi for sale

IT WAS the only thing that could rival tough-talking DCI Gene Hunt for on-screen presence – and now the famous red Audi Quattro is up for sale. The hit TV show Ashes to Ashes saw Philip Glennister reprise his role as Hunt opposite Keeley Hawes as Alex Drake, but for many it was the iconic 1981 Audi that stole the show. Drink Drive Message Failing As One In 15 Fail Breath-Tests

ROAD safety charity Brake has issued an appeal to the public to not drink and drive this summer and all year-round, as figures from the Association of Chief Police Officer's (ACPO) summer drink drive enforcement campaign, show one in 15 of those breath-tested were over the limit. During the national campaign, which ran from 1 June to 30 June, 63,688 breath tests were administered, of which 4,108 (6.5%, or one in 15) were failed or refused. This is 1.3% more than during the 2013 campaign.

Porsche announces new Weissach design center and wind tunnel

Porsche is to invest around €150m into its Weissach development facility, including a new design center. The plans also include an electronics integration department and a state-of-the art, on-site wind tunnel, which is hoped will allow the company to realize an holistic approach to efficient design, with a strong focus on aerodynamics. When we spoke with head of Porsche design, Michael Mauer, at this year's Paris motor show, he also alluded to the fact that the Volkswagen Group's – and, more specifically, Walter de'Silva's – recent influence on the German manufacturer was shifting its attitudes: "The Volkswagen Group has a very good understanding of how much freedom a brand needs to keep its characteristics and with [Walter] as 'conductor', I feel a lot of support with design issues within the company," explained Mauer.
