Aeronca Champ Auxiliary Fuel Gauge - replacement cork & rod.  While not original equipment, most Champs are equipped with an Auxiliary Fuel Gauge.  Specifically, a J3 / PA-11 style gas cap and float.  The problem is that the natural cork becomes gas soaked over the years (ruining any calibration) and the steel rods corrode (which potentially causes the rod to hang up and provide erroneous readings).  Worse, most users coat the natural cork float with epoxy which changes the calibration and, the epoxy cracks and flakes off over time potentially obstructing the fuel system.

The solution is the TWE (The Tailwheel Exchange, LLC) replacement neoprene cork and fuel measuring rod.  The neoprene cork will not absorb fuel and the rod is made of the highest grade aircraft aluminum.  The assembly is chemically bonded with fuel-proof two-part adhesive specifically designed for the harsh rigors of aircraft fuel systems.  This synthetic cork / rod assembly fits the Aeronca Champ 13 gallon header tank (please see listings for the J3 / PA-11 replacement cork and rod in my other listings).

Overall Length: 11 inches

Weight: 11 grams (0.4 ounces)

Complete installation and calibration instructions included.

Again, this is Non-PMA / Non-Certified part.  The end user is solely responsible for determining the airworthiness of this part.

Bugatti Veyron Centenaire heads for Geneva – Rumour!

Tue, 24 Feb 2009

I have to say rumour, because Bugatti are not exactly reliable with information! We’ve heard rumours before that they are producing a ‘Sang Noir’ version of the Targa-Topped Grand Sport, but they’ve gone quiet on that. But now we’re hearing solid rumours, as Bugatti is 100 years old this year, that they are going to be showing a very special anniversary edition of the Veyron – The Bugatti Veyron Centenaire – at Geneva ‘o9 next month.

Citroen C1 gets insurance ‘Black Box’ as standard. Orwellian control arrives.

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

Citroen has announced that the C1 Connexion will now come with a Telematics ‘Black Box’ as standard fitting as Big Brother moves closer. As if it wasn’t enough that every street corner, business and park now has at least one CCTV camera, that we’re prosecuted for ‘speeding’ by yellow boxes on poles that take no account of road conditions or circumstances and that motorists are being milked dry by ‘stupid’ box junction and red light cameras, now Citroen are to fit a telematics ‘Black Box’ as standard to its C1 Connexion. Citroen say the ‘Black Box’ fitting is so they can offer free insurance to buyers, with anyone from 19-75 getting a year’s free insurance with every C1 as long as they have at least two years no claims bonus.

Ferrari 599XX revealed

Tue, 03 Mar 2009

We mentioned the other day when we were talking about the handling pack for the Ferrari 599 (the HTGE Pack) that Ferrari was also bringing a new car to Geneva – the Ferrari 599XX. We speculated that the 599XX would be in the mould of the FXX series – a track-only development car for uber-rich enthusiasts to drive on track and generate feedback for Ferrari. And that’s what it is!
