Aeronca Champ Gas / Fuel Gauge - Replacement Cork & Rod on 2040-parts.com

Aeronca Champ Auxiliary Fuel Gauge - replacement cork & rod. While not original equipment, most Champs are equipped with an Auxiliary Fuel Gauge. Specifically, a J3 / PA-11 style gas cap and float. The problem is that the natural cork becomes gas soaked over the years (ruining any calibration) and the steel rods corrode (which potentially causes the rod to hang up and provide erroneous readings). Worse, most users coat the natural cork float with epoxy which changes the calibration and, the epoxy cracks and flakes off over time potentially obstructing the fuel system. The solution is the TWE (The Tailwheel Exchange, LLC) replacement neoprene cork and fuel measuring rod. The neoprene cork will not absorb fuel and the rod is made of the highest grade aircraft aluminum. The assembly is chemically bonded with fuel-proof two-part adhesive specifically designed for the harsh rigors of aircraft fuel systems. This synthetic cork / rod assembly fits the Aeronca Champ 13 gallon header tank (please see listings for the J3 / PA-11 replacement cork and rod in my other listings). Overall Length: 11 inches Weight: 11 grams (0.4 ounces) Complete installation and calibration instructions included. Again, this is Non-PMA / Non-Certified part. The end user is solely responsible for determining the airworthiness of this part. |
