Ford's NA Design Director aims to shorten product lifecycles
Wed, 16 Jul 2008Peter Horbury, Ford Motor Company North America Design Director, has told Automotive News he intends to shorten product lifecycles at the ailing company from an average five years to three years starting this decade. "We feel there is no value in minor changes but a huge value in major changes," Horbury told the industry weekly. Ford needs to ensure that buyers continue visiting showrooms as the giant automaker struggles to retain market share.

The Panamera comes in three flavours to start with – the Panamera S (V8), the Panamera 4S (V8) and the Panamera Turbo (V8 Turbo) – with prices starting from £72,266 and rising to £95,298. Jaguar’s punt at making the now ageing XFR credible against the new BMW M5 – the Jaguar XFR-S – is getting its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show tomorrow, but ahead of that full reveal Jaguar is teasing interest with its second teaser photo of the most powerful saloon they’ve ever built. Last week we got a front view of the XFR-S with its more aggressive nose (and Jaguar’s favourite ‘Speedy’ blue paint job) and this week we get to see the thumping great carbon fibre rear wing Jaguar has bolted on the back of the XFR-S.
