FRENCH car maker Citroen is celebrating 80 years of its iconic Traction Avant in 2014 with a series of events dedicated to the famous model. Launched in April 1934, the new model – originally christened 7A - revolutionised the automotive world with its low centre of gravity, all steel monocoque body, light weight and radical aerodynamics. Connecting the dots that lead to Chevrolet's as-yet-unnamed new model seems to lead back to one storied name: SS. The latest clue that a rear-wheel-drive performance sedan named simply SS could soon join nameplates such as Malibu and Suburban in Chevy's lineup came from an unlikely source: GM itself. A page on the OnStar Web site had listed the GM models that are compatible with a mobile app that gives owners remote vehicle access through their smartphones.

Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking is likely to bow to pressure from the Porsche family to step down, a German newspaper report said on Wednesday. Business daily Handelsblatt said that the two parties had already reached agreement that the chief executive should go and that a formal decision could come by Thursday, when the company's supervisory board meets. The newspaper also said, however, that Wiedeking would fight to keep his job.
