This is for a fresh restoration and rebuilt set of AUC 739 H6 SU carburetors for the Austin Healey 100M. This set of carbs has been built up to the 100M specifications using original SU parts. The carb bodies are AUC 6040 and the float bowls are AUC 3496.The shafts are new and have no lateral movement. The throttle, metering needles, float needles and seats, and all seals were replaced. Metering needles are AO7. Piston springs are yellow and the pistons drop at the same rate. No abrasives were used on the internal air chambers to maintain the close tolerance of the piston and air chamber. The butterflies close the bores 99%. All mounting flanges have been surfaced and are flat for a tight seal. This set of carbs is in A1 condition and will perform as new at half the cost. They have been adjusted for pre-start up and fine adjustment will be required after warm up. The air chambers have been polished and the set shows very well. The external surfaces of the carb bodies, float bowls and covers have been glass bead blasted and clear coated for a lasting appearance. A twenty four hour static leak check of float bowl, jet seals, gland nut seal and floats was performed. All hardware has been restored to the original luster. A very nice set.

This set will also fit the MGA TWIN CAM with minor modifications. I have the MGA levers, WO6 metering needles and the AUC 3495 float bowls

New Peugeot 308 (2014) revealed ahead of debut at 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show

Mon, 13 May 2013

The new Peugeot 308 - revealed this morning ahead of a debut at Frankfurt in September and an on sale date in the UK of January 2014 – moves the 308 further towards the sector leaders with a new car – built on PSA’s new EMP2 platform – that’s a bit shorter and a bit lower than the old 308, and looks a lot slicker. The nose of the new 308 is lower than before and it sports Peugeot’s new, more refined, grill with slime LED headlights and manages to look like a convincing big brother to the new 208, with elements borrowed from the Onyx Concept too with the back end sporting LEDs that create three ‘Lion Claws’ in their graphic (like the Jaguar XJ). Inside, Peugeot have created what they call an ‘i-cockpit’ layout with a big centre console featuring a 9.7″ touchscreen that takes the place of most of the buttons you used to get, allowing Peugeot to create a dash with a sleek and uncluttered feel and heads-up instruments.

Electric cars amped up with £500 million boost

Tue, 29 Apr 2014

THE GOVERNMENT is to extend the £5,000 grant scheme open to anyone who buys a car with plug-in electric power. It is part of a £500 million move to encourage car owners – and city authorities – to take up the electric car baton and run with it. The initiative will give cities a chance to win government funding to further the sales of electric cars in their areas, for example by allowing them to use bus lanes or park for free.

Subaru XV Crossover revealed in Shanghai

Tue, 19 Apr 2011

Subaru XV Crossover Concept has the Qashqai and 3008 in its sites Last week we had a tease for the Subaru XV Concept in the usual form of a dark image with all detail taken out. But it looked like a crossover, and a crossover is what made most sense. And that’s exactly what it turns out to be – Subaru’s pitch at the Peugeot 3008 and Nissan Qashqai.
