Rain doesn't dampen spirits at Orphan Car Show

Wed, 28 Sep 2011

With rain falling as the show cars arrived, organizers worried that moving the 15th-annual Ypsilanti Orphan Car Show from its original June weekend to late September wasn't going to work out after all. It was rescheduled last year after heavy rain in June and participants voted to make the change permanent. Several people have brought up the legendary $112,000 sale of an Amphicar at Barrett-Jackson's Scottsdale sale in 2006.

Grand National Roadster Show kicks off in California

Fri, 28 Jan 2011

History continued today at the Fairplex in Pomona, Calif., as the 62nd annual Grand National Roadster Show opened its doors for the weekend. Twelve open-topped hot rods will vie for the title of "America's Most Beautiful Roadster" and the right of their owners to scratch thier names onto the accompanying nine-foot-tall trophy. A few minor tweaks to the rules will make this year's judging something new.
