Infiniti releases first look at JX crossover

Infiniti on Thursday released a first look at the JX seven-passenger crossover it plans to build at the Nissan assembly plant in Smyrna, Tenn. A concept of the JX will be shown publicly during the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in August, and the production version is scheduled to debut at the Los Angeles auto show in November. The Infiniti JX is set to go on sale in spring 2012 as a 2013 model.

Infiniti, Nissan’s upmarket wing, can finally have a serious stab at the European luxury car market after launching its Renault-based turbodiesel V6. Its pleasingly idiosyncratic range of cars – ultra modern, finely crafted and mostly fun to drive – have been hamstrung in the showrooms by a range of V6 and V8 petrol engines which have been designed for customers in Los Angeles or Boston, not London or Berlin. Of a diesel, there has been no sign.

Saab €600 seeking million China Loan Victor Muller is seeking a €600 million loan from a Bank in China to allow Saab to survive and circumvent GM’s objection to Chinese ownership. We’re not sure if this is ‘Plan B’ or whether we’re way beyond that now. But the latest ‘Save Saab’ pitch from Victor Muller is to acquire a €600 million loan from a bank in China to save Saab.
