Set of early Euro spec headlights that I picked up from Italy on my last trip. They come with the pain in the @$$ to find black rubber covers that go over the top making it look somewhat stock. I hate having a huge gap between the headlights and body from what normally happens when these are not acquired. They are most definitely used, and have some scratches, chips, and normal wear and tear. These are not new, used. The pair are manufactured by Elma and were different than the Carello lights we have on the US Spec Alfa Romeo 164B, 164S, and 164L. The Euro 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, and 1993 164 had a single H4 bulb, rather than the single 9004 bulb the US cars got as well as a better lens for night driving. The low beam cut off is also different, giving more power to the lower part of the road and right side, as well as a more focused beam of light on both low and highs compared to the US Spec.

Why?

In the 1990s the US Government had a specification on limited candle watt power on headlights for all cars. God forbid you see well enough at night! These are not subject to this limitation, and thus curing the problem of our crappy headlights on these cars.

Why not a set of Bosch Projector headlights from a later Super or Q?

Because the 1987-1993 Alfa Romeo 164 has a different fender than the 1994-1997 cars. The facelift cars were designed with a different marker/blinker light, as such the Bosch lights will have a gap between your fender and marker/blinker. These are the correct lights for the early 164 looking for better lighting.

One Lap of the Web: Let's visit Amelia Island in a short bus camper

Tue, 04 Mar 2014

-- Ken Kesey and friends spent most of the countercultural 1960s driving across the country in a 1939 International Harvester school bus painted in psychedelic colors. Portland, Maine architect Will Winkelman might do less drugs (we don't know), but the 1959 Chevrolet Viking short bus he designed might fit Kesey and his Merry Pranksters, especially if you stacked them head-to-toe. For his client, Winkelman designed a Moroccan theme of colorful patterns and textures across the curtains and twin beds, beaded light fixtures and wood paneling everywhere, approaching the project as one might approach boat-building or a particularly run-down Detroit "fixer-upper." The result has plumbing, power, an olive-drab paint scheme that blends into the New England woods, and the overall sense of a guest bedroom that you can escape in whenever you tire of your host's company.

Mowing up a record run

Sat, 21 Jan 2012

Bobby Cleveland owns a record that most people didn't know existed and, frankly, probably never even thought about. But that really doesn't matter to Cleveland. He's gone faster on a lawnmower than anyone else on the planet.

New watch alert: Fiero

Fri, 17 Jan 2014

We've featured some pretty fancy lifestyle successories around here, but until today, we hadn't been able to find anything that captures the spirit of the mighty Pontiac Fiero. But today is a new day. Thanks to the miracles of modern shipping, we're able to order this little beauty straight from Kowloon, Hong Kong.
