Mercury gets a small car in 2011

Ford Motor Co. executives confirmed that Mercury will get a new car on the same platform as the Ford Focus. Ford executives told dealers Sunday at the National Automobile Dealers Association convention in Orlando, Fla., that the small Mercury is coming in 2011, the same year the Focus arrives.

Mercedes confirms SLK55 AMG’s new 5.5 V8

Mercedes has announced details of the new eight-cylinder engine that will power the upcoming SLK55 AMG. It’s a 5.5-litre lump, and AMG promises that its new naturally aspirated engine delivers not just the performance of a V8, but also the ‘economical fuel consumption of a four-cylinder’. Infiniti European range launched

Nissan’s upmarket Infiniti brand officially launched its European range in Geneva, essentially a slimlined and simplified interpretation of its US model line-up: G37 coupe and saloon, EX37 coupe crossover and an all-new V8 coupe crossover to sit at the top of the range: the FX50. The latter model is essentially a scaled up EX37, though the nose treatment is notably bluffer and, to our eyes, a little too severe.
