Mazda Furai concept burns in Top Gear's hands

It's the 20th anniversary of Top Gear -- the magazine anyway -- and as it celebrates its 20th anniversary, the magazine has copped to the destruction of the Mazda Furai concept, which caught on fire while in its possession an unspecified length of time ago. "The 20th anniversary collectors" edition of BBC Top Gear magazine…reveals a host of until-now untold secrets," says a statement from the magazine's publisher, "including the truth behind the mysterious disappearance of Mazda's astonishing Furai concept (hint: it involves the East Anglia fire service)." Young driver training scheme to expand

AN EXCITING scheme has been launched in curricula across the country to give children education in and practical experience of safe driving. A mixture of off-road hands-on young driver training mixes with theory work to give kids a head-start on road safety issues and take away some of the urge to rush to pass their tests when they reach 17. After tracking the progress of students who took part in a pilot scheme, the operators of Young Driver at School discovered that the training course reduced the rate of accidents by half, when compared to the normal accident rate for 17-24 year-olds.

Chevrolet Cruze lands in the UK

GM is having its problems, as we’ve chronicled almost endlessly, but they are pushing ahead with the launch of their Focus-sized offering, the Chevrolet Cruse, around the world. So far it has been launched in the Far East and Australia, and now we’re getting it in the UK from the summer. But oddly, it’s not going to arrive in the US until next year.
