We thought Mercedes were going to take the C-Class Coupe along to the Detroit Motor Show at the start of January, especially after we had a leaked photo of the C-Class Coupe a few days before the show. But no.

At last year’s Worthersee Tour Volkswagen brought along a pair of Golf Cabriolets – the VW Golf GTI Cabriolet and the VW Golf R Cabriolet – signalling some proper performance from a drop-top Golf. At the time we commented that the Golf R Cabriolet would definitely be made, but by the time Volkswagen revealed the production version of the Golf GTI Cabriolet at Geneva in March we were moved to ask “What about the Golf R Cabriolet?”.
