Local authorities cashing in with CCTV fines
Tue, 15 Apr 2014Councils are turning to CCTV cameras and spy cars to raise £312m in revenue, that’s according to Traffic Spies, a report published by civil liberties group, Big Brother Watch. Using a series of freedom of information requests, the group has discovered that many councils are continuing to use CCTV to hand out fines, despite the government’s Surveillance Camera Code of Practice, which highlights the need to use CCTV for traffic offences “sparingly”. Thu, 13 Aug 2009The fake Porsche Cayman Shooting Brake - rendered in Maya Turns out that it was all a bit of viral fun created by Jared Holstein, the outgoing editor of TopGear.com. He came up with the idea and got a bunch of Summer Interns in the States to do the donkey work. A digital design student called Matt DuVall used Maya (a digital 3D rendering programme) to create the original image (actually, I’ve been trying to master Maya for ever – must get some tips from Matt!) which incorporated lots of Porsche design themes, and even used a Porsche ‘Mule’ license plate.

The heavily pregnant woman was being driven to hospital by her partner around 1pm yesterday when they realised the baby was about to arrive. Her partner pulled over next to Metropolitan Police transport officer Robert Morgan, who was dealing with a vehicle close to the Mercedes Benz showroom in Newham.
