Type-R speakers are engineered to deliver prodigious power whilemaintaining extreme sound clarity, for totally exciting sound. IMPRESSIVELY POWERFUL BASS Using some of the same technologies as the Type-R subwoofers, such asHAMR Surround for extremely long cone excursion while maintainingmaximum control, these speakers deliver deep, muscular bass that givesyour sound a powerful punch. SUPERB SOUND QUALITY Type-R speakers employ many high quality parts and advanced designs,including a multilayer cone that is both light and strong, and a LinearDrive Magnet and Dual Gap Voice Coil structure that ensures maximumlinearity for optimum sound quality. COMPACT FOR EASY INSTALLATION Thanks to a powerful, compact neodymium magnet, small network and slimbasket, the Type-R speakers are much more compact than you wouldexpect, allowing installation in the doors of a wide range of vehicles. WAVE GUIDE FOCUSES THE SOUND Alpine has developed a Wave Guide for the cone to further improve soundquality. Mounted over the center cap, it prevents phase distortion ofthe sound waves from the diaphragm, and focuses the sound for optimumclarity. (SPR-60C/-50C only) SWIVEL RING TWEETER Both component and coaxial models have a high quality Ring tweeter thatswivels to improve the sound from any location. You can aim it foroptimum imaging and staging at your listening position. COMPACT NETWORK DESIGN The crossover network is 75% smaller than previous types, for easierinstallation in door panels. It provides four levels of tweeteradjustment so you can achieve best balance between tweeter and woofer. They are rolling out ‘BlueMotion’ versions of cars across the range at regular intervals, the most recent being the sub 100g/km Golf BlueMotion. But most of these are tweaks to the suspension, aerodynamics and ECU of existing diesels to coax the best returns on emissions and economy.
Drayson Racing and RCA launch EV racing car contest
Thu, 06 Dec 2012Drayson Racing has launched a contest with the Royal College of Art's Vehicle Design program to design electric racing car concepts for the FIA's new Formula E series, which is set to start in 2014. The RCA's students are asked to present designs that explore new themes within the technical constraints as part of this course's curriculum. The previous Drayson Formula E concept was developed by Sergio Rinland who will be part of a series of workshops and lectures on aerodynamics, engineering packaging, production engineering and materials, giving students the technical knowledge to develop their designs.
