This item is essential when installing a dual battery system into your vehicle, it is the simplest and cheapest way to obtain a suitable charge voltage for the main and auxiliary batteries. In recent years vehicle manufacturers have lowered the charge voltages in their vehicles to enable them to meet strict overseas pollution requirements and to improve vehicle fuel consumption figures. This has resulted in the vehicles charging system being able to barely cope with charging the cranking battery let alone additional vehicle batteries and results in the vehicles batteries being left in a permanent state of discharge. The alternator voltage booster has been specifically engineered to overcome this problem by restoring the vehicles charging voltage to normal levels, thus ensuring all the vehicles batteries are properly charged. It is designed to increase the vehicles alternator output voltage by approximately .5V - .6V restoring charging voltages to normal levels that give a greatly improved charging performance. Why buy an expensive DC/DC charger when the alternator voltage booster will do a better job at a fraction of the cost?

The alternator voltage booster is ideal for the following applications:

The MK3 version is the latest offering from HKB electronics and differs from all other diode booster units in that it is the only device of its type available that incorporates an auto resetting PTC electronic fuse. The PTC device incorporated in the MK3 offers far better circuit protection than both the OEM fuse it replaces and all other types of voltage boosters. Should an electrical fault develop in the vehicles wiring other types of booster diodes will be destroyed and need to be replaced, this is not the case with the MK3 unit, in the event of an electrical fault occurring, the PTC device in the MK3 detects the excessive current flow and turns off preventing damage to the booster unit, the vehicles wiring, and alternator. Once the electrical fault has been removed the PTC device automatically resets and the booster unit will resume normal operation.
