Tyre warning for drivers heading into Europe
Mon, 13 Jan 2014BRITISH DRIVERS could face on the spot fines for using the wrong tyres when travelling in Europe this winter. Severe winter weather in many European countries means the normal summer tyres fitted to most UK cars will not offer enough grip for safe driving or braking in icy or snowy conditions. In Germany and some ski resorts, drivers are liable to on-the-spot fines if their car is not equipped with winter tyres or their car becomes stuck in slippery conditions due to the wrong tyres being fitted.
Lotus Evora 414E Range Extender EV moves forward
Sun, 28 Oct 2012The Lotus Evora 414E – a Lotus Engineering range extender hybrid project – is still moving ahead with dynamic and durability testing now underway. On the surface the Evora 414E looked like every other Evora, but under the skin sat the first version of a Lotus range-extender platform with a pair of electric motors and a small, 3-cylinder range-extender engine promising impressive performance and economy. Despite the reveal of the 414E at Geneva in 2010, there’s not been a huge amount of news on Lotus pushing forward with the project, or at least not until we got the Infiniti Emerg-E Concept at Geneva this year that turned out to be underpinned by the Evora 414E platform.
Racing granny wished for more speed
Fri, 16 May 2014A 102-year-old woman said she was disappointed racing great Mario Andretti could not go faster than 180mph during their laps around a speedway track in Indianapolis. Edith Pittenger, of Muncie, said she had a great time riding with Andretti in a two-seat race car. "He said 180 is the maximum," she told the Star Press.
