Amc Gremlin Hinge Replacement Rear Window Hatch Glass Back Rear Tail Gate Chrome on 2040-parts.com
Des Moines, Iowa, US
This is a used HINGE from an early AMC Gremlin, rear hatch glass window. This is just the hinge. The item in the photos is what you will receive. It is in very good used condition, but it has 2 holes drilled in the steel bracket, as seen in photos. The Gremlin it came off was probably a 1972 Model. It appears to be the RIGHT hand hinge. The spot welds holding the hinge to the metal frame around the glass had broken away, so I planned to repair my rear hatch window by drilling 2 holes in the hinge, but when I tried to drill matching holes in the glass with a special carbide drill bit, the window shattered, requiring complete replacement of the glass. So consequently, I don't recommend drilling the glass in order to bolt a replacement hinge to such a window.
You might do well to ask an expert if this hinge can be spot welded or MIG welded to your existing glass frame without destroying the glass.
