Nissan opens new design studio in Beijing

Delayed by the deadly earthquake that hit Japan earlier this year, Nissan Motor Co.'s new design center in Beijing finally received a proper opening this week, when global design chief Shiro Nakamura showed off the studio as a new source of ideas for Nissan and Infiniti. Nissan Design China, as the Beijing-based center is known, "is not a studio to just generate ideas for China," Nakamura said in an interview with Car Design News. It's equipped to handle designs of show cars and production cars for both Nissan and Infiniti brands, aimed at customers in China, as well as around the world.

Chrysler’s engineers claim that roof down, the new convertible is two and a half times stiffer than its predecessor, which is just as well as the previous model – which was sold in minute quantities here back in 2001 – had all the torsional rigidity of a wet bath sponge.

These official sketches of the Kia KH preview an all-new flagship sedan that will also be the brand's first rear-wheel drive car, notwithstanding last year's GT concept. The classically proportioned three-box sedan appears to feature a blend of Kia design cues and the influences of other luxury models. The KH sports the Kia tiger-nose grille, framed by large, detailed lamp graphics and contoured hood.
