This is a new Ameri-King Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) for aircraft.  It is new, sealed, unopened, in the original box.

ELTs are emergency transmitters that are carried aboard most general aviation aircraft in the U.S. In the event of an aircraft accident, these devices are designed to transmit a distress signal on 121.5, 243.0-megahertz frequencies. Currently, ELTs are required to be installed in almost all U.S.-registered civil aircraft, including general aviation aircraft, as a result of a congressional mandate.

This item is complete. Contains: transmitter, battery, mounting tray, wiring harness, antenna, and installation CD. The transmitter, battery, mounting tray and harness are still unopened in the factory-sealed bags. The carton was only opened to take the photos for this auction. Otherwise, the contents are exactly like it came from the factory.

Model AK-450, frequency 121.5 and 243.0 MHz, FAA TSO-91a approved.

I got this ELT with my airplane in November. I don't know how long the previous owner had it. I installed a 406 MHz ELT transmitter, so I don't need this one. The box is in rough shape, but the contents are in perfect, factory-sealed condition.  The item in the photo is the one you will receive. There is no bogus handling charge; you pay only actual shipping costs. I will double-box and bubble wrap at no charge.

Bidding starts at $49 with no reserve price. I just want it to go to a good home. Get an excellent ELT for your airplane at a low price.

70% of premium brand cars stolen are taken with the car’s own keys

Thu, 03 Apr 2014

High-end SUVs – like the new Range Rover (pictured) are a prime target for car key thieves There was once a time when all it took to steal a car was a wire coathanger and the ability to hotwire the ignition. But as car makers have got better at securing the second most expensive asset most of us will ever own, car thieves have had to look for a different approach, and that approach is increasingly to relieve owners of the keys to their pride and joy. Cobra – the vehicle tracking firm – are reporting that a massive 70 per cent of all premium brand cars stolen in 2014 – with an average value of £40k, up £6k on 2012 – are being parted from their owners using that owners keys.

BMW 3-series (2012): our comprehensive guide to F30

Thu, 17 Nov 2011

BMW has sold 12 million 3-series models since 1975; it’s an important car, one that accounts for a third of global BMW sales. The sixth-generation, codenamed F30, has a lot to live up to, then. Here are the key changes: Chassis The F30 is still, of course, rear-wheel drive, has 50:50 weight distribution, and sticks with the MacPherson strut front/multi-link rear suspension layout of its predecessors rather than following the double-wishbone front suspension employed by the new F10 5-series.
