VERY RARE - ONE PRINT - "AMERICA'S RIDE" MAGAZINE - HARLEY DAVIDSON'S 90TH ANNIVERSARY REUNION in MILWAULKE, WISCONSIN 1993

THIS MAGAZINE WAS PURCHASED BY MYSELF AFTER RETURNING FROM THE REUNION IN 1993. ONE OF THE COUPLES WE WENT WITH, CALLED US UP TO TELL US TO LOOK FOR "AMERICA'S RIDE" MAGAZINE BECAUSE ALL OUR PICTURES WERE IN THE CENTER FOLD OF A SEA OF BIKES. I WENT TO OVER 30 STORES, YET NO ONE HEARD OF "AMERICA'S RIDE" MAGAZINE. I FINALLY FOUND A STORE 30 MILES AWAY THAT HAD TWO COPIES OF THEM AND PURCHASED THEM BOTH. SURE ENOUGH, THERE WERE MY WIFE AND I AND ALL OUR FRIENDS IN THE CENTER FOLD PICTURE. I PUT THEM BOTH IN PLASTIC AND ADDED THEM TO MY HARLEY COLLECTIBLES IN MY DISPLAY CABINET, WHERE THEY HAVE SAT FOR TWENTY YEARS.
DUE TO AGE, I RECENTLY STARTED TO SELL MY HARLEY DAVIDSON COLLECTIBLES  AND I CAME ACROSS THESE MAGAZINES. I ATTEMPTED TO LOOK UP THE ORIGIN OF THE MAGAZINE SINCE I HAD NEVER SEEN ONE BEFORE OR SINCE. ALL INTERNET SEARCHES PROVIDED NO "AMERICA'S RIDE" MAGAZINE SO I LOOKED FOR THE PUBLISHER. THE MAGAZINE WAS PRODUCED BY "LARRY FLYNT PUBLISHING" OF HUSTLER MAGAZINE FAME, SO I CONTACT THEM IN CALIFORNIA. I WAS PUT IN TOUCH WITH THIER ARCHIVE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD THAT ALTHOUGH THEY DID PUBLISH TWENTY TWO (22) DIFFERENT ONE TIME PRINT MAGAZINES, THAT THIS WAS NOT THIER WORK. THEY HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT SAID THEY HAVE COPIES OF EVERY MAGAZINE THEY HAVE EVER PUBLISHED AND THIS WAS NOT ONE OF THEM. SHE ASKED ME FOR THE NAMES OF ALL THE PEOPLE ON THE PUBLISHER'S PAGE AND AFTER I TOLD HER, SHE CONFIRMED THAT YES, THESE WERE ALL PEOPLE WHO WORKED THERE. SHE ASKED IF I COULD SEND HER PHOTOS OF THE COVER, PUBLISHER'S PAGE AND OTHER ASSORTED PHOTOS FROM THE MAGAZINE. UPON INVESTIGATING, THEY ADMITTED THAT YES IT MUST BE THIER'S AND A ONE PRINT MAGAZINE, BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE A COPY OR RECORD OF PRODUCING IT, ONLY PEOPLE WHO REMEMBERED THAT THEY DID. I OFFERED TO SELL THEM ONE OF MY COPIES, BUT THEY REFUSED, SAYING IT WAS THIER POLICY NEVER TO PURCHASE THIER OWN MATERIAL. I OFFERED ONE OF MY COPIES TO THEM FOR FREE, IF LARRY FLYNT WOULD SIGN MY OTHER COPY AND HAVE NEVER HEARD BACK FROM THEM. YOU WILL NOT FIND THIS ANYWHERE EVEN ON THE INTERNET. A VERY RARE, UNIQUE AND REALLY QUITE AN INFORMATIVE HISTORY OF HARLEY DAVIDSON' FIRST 90 YEARS AND THE CELEBRATION. DID YOU GO TO THE 90TH REUNION? IS YOUR PICTURE IN THIS MAGAZINE? THE MAGAZINE IS IN MINT UNREAD CONDITION EXCEPT A VERY TINY FOLD IN THE BOTTOM RIGHT HAND CORNER.

Want an Audi Quattro? You’re not the only one.

Sun, 23 Nov 2008

Being male, and Clarkson-aged, I remember, and owned, many of the ‘Classic’ cars which have turned up in hit TV series in recent years. For many years now they’ve just been fond memories, periodically stimulated by looking at old photos, but cars like these are becoming more and more common on our roads, according to a spokesman from Brittania Rescue: “These cars are stylish and they benefit from cheaper road tax so it’s no surprise they are getting a second lease of life.” The Iconic Audi Quattro - as seen in Life on Mars And frankly, I’m not surprised. There is something hugely appealing about cars from the 70s and 80s.

Hyundai Arnejs

Mon, 11 Sep 2006

Hyundai has released this sketch of the Arnejs (ar-nez), a new hatchback that will represent the Korean firm in the busy European C-segment. The Arnejs is sister to the Kia C'eed, and will be on the road by Summer 2007 following its production preview at the Paris Motor Show.  The C'eed itself will be shown in production form nearby, ready for Fall sales this year. Expect engines to be shared between the two.
