Every August, car nuts from around the globe congregate on the Monterey Peninsula, on the west coast of America, to pay homage to the internal combustion engine. A series of events is run, culminating in the most prestigious concours in the world – Pebble Beach. The hugely appealing Ferrari 458 Spider has made its UK debut at the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed alongside the new, more powerful California – the Ferrari California 30. The new 458 Spider – which, if you could still see the engine at the back, would make you wonder who would still but the 458 Coupe – gets a very clever, fully retractable aluminium hard top which is a full 25kg lighter than a comparable cloth top.

The Sandero Stepway is a rugged compact crossover – with a higher ride height and bolted on chunky bits - based on the very inexpensive Sandero, so you won’t be shocked to learn that the Sandero Stepway is as inexpensive as its hatch sibling – from only £600 more than the equivalent trim Sandero. Dacia has decided that the Sandero Stepway won’t come in completely stripped-out Access trim – unlike the Sandero and Duster SUV – but the entry level will be the Sandero Stepway Ambience, with a better equipped Stepway Lauréate for those who want a few more home comforts.
