This auction is for the 24 VDC to 24 VDC Isolating Power Supply panel of an Anschutz Kiel Gyrocompass 14 Standard.

I purchased several of these gyrocompasses a little over 10 years ago (it has been in storage since then) from our Government Surplus after they were removed from our Military Naval ships when the ships was decommissioned, other than that, I know nothing about them.

This part of the compass is marked "Isolating Power Supply", DC/DC converter model 121-049 No. 0313 and measures approximately 13 inches by 9 3/4 inches by 5 1/4 inches with a weight of approximately 6.54 Kg. 

This component appears to be in very good condition with no corrosion or damage that I can see; however, I do not know how to use this and certainly have no way of testing it, so it is "Sold As Is" - I understand these sphere are very delicate and as such, to be on the safe side, I would consider this item as for parts or rebuild only - plus please note: all that is included in this auction is what you see in the photos, there is nothing else - if you don't see it - it is not included, if you have any questions please ask before bidding and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

I you are located outside of North America, please request a shipping quote BEFORE BIDDING due to the high shipping costs and there are countries I will not ship to.

Canadian residents must pay GST / HST sales tax – BC buyers must also pay PST - all other buyers are exempt these taxes. Although recommended, quotes for shipping will not include insurance unless requested.

Missing oil changes is false economy

TRYING TO SAVE money on motoring costs by not changing a car’s oil is risking a false economy as it could lead to more wear and fuel consumption, according to Two-thirds (65%) of British drivers admitted they have not changed the oil in their car in the last 12 months, with the same number admitting they buy oil for their car based solely on price. The same study by Mobil 1 also showed only 45% of drivers knew when their car’s scheduled service intervals were, while 15% said they would cut back on servicing to save money. Dan McGoldrick, of Mobil 1, said: ‘Choosing the right oil for your car is vital as it means both the lubricant and the engine will last longer, so you’re saving in the long term.’ Tim Shallcross, Head of Technical Policy at the Institute of Advanced Motorists, added: ‘Apart from lubricating the engine, oil has the important job of absorbing harmful by-products given off by the burning fuel.

GM names Stracke to succeed Reilly as CEO of Opel/Vauxhall

General Motors on Thursday named global engineering chief Karl-Friedrich Stracke to replace Nick Reilly as CEO of its money-losing Opel/Vauxhall unit, effective April 1. Stracke will report to Reilly, 61, who continues as the head of GM's European operations and will be nominated to chair the Opel supervisory board. Stracke, a German native, has led GM's global vehicle engineering operations for the past 15 months.

Ram brand created, Gilles to lead Dodge cars and Fong leaves in Chrysler shakeup

Chrysler Group has created a new brand called Ram for its trucks and named its top designer, Ralph Gilles, as CEO of Dodge cars. The new structure overhauls a setup announced in June as the automaker emerged from bankruptcy in an alliance with Fiat S.p.A. Michael Accavitti, who had led the Dodge brand, has "resigned to pursue other interests," the company said in a statement.
