Skoda Superb Combi Outdoor with added Rufty-Tufty
Wed, 06 Jun 2012The Skoda Superb Combi Outdoor is the Skoda take on the VW family ‘Allroad’, with a raised ride height and bolt-on plastic goodness. Even now, when Skoda has all but managed to shake off the mantle of Soviet Skip, the Superb Combi is still a much underrated car. The Superb Combi looks good, is well equipped and far more appealing than its (perfectly decent) hatch sibling.
CAR 20 Most Wanted of 2014: VW Golf R
Tue, 17 Dec 2013By the CAR editorial team First Official Pictures 17 December 2013 15:00 Everyone knows the Golf GTI: fun, practical, affordable, understated, it’s the default hot hatch. The Golf R is more complex: unravel its DNA and you’ll find traces of the four-wheel drive, supercharged Mk2 Rallye, the front-drive Mk3 VR6 with its 2.8-litre V6 and leather interior, the Mk4 and Mk5 four-wheel-drive R32 and the Mk6 R that ditched the potent V6 for a punchier, more fuel-efficient turbo four. It’d be a nightmare of a custody battle.
Nissan-designed Santa’s sleigh
Wed, 17 Dec 2008By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 17 December 2008 14:30 Canadian designer Martin Uhlarik penned Nissan’s sleigh, which dispenses with reindeer altogether and can be used instead in conjunction with a rather faster steed, a Nissan GT-R. It’s quickly apparent that Nissan’s SC01 sledge will have a much greater load capacity than rival designs – and we’d certainly pull over fast if we saw this in our rear-view mirrors. Uhlarik is project design leader at Nissan’s Paddington design centre in London and was senior exterior designer on the Qashqai+2 and NV200 concept.
