LA Motor Show: Huge numbers define new Mercedes S 65 AMG

TWELVE cylinders, two turbochargers, 5,980 cubic centimetres, 621bhp and 738lb.ft of torque are numbers designed to catch the eye. These are the figures boasted by the new Mercedes-Benz S 65 AMG, which has made its motor show debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The stats are good enough to endow the standard-bearing saloon with epic performance, including a 0-62mph time of just 4.3 seconds.

Last year we got the SEAT Leon FR+ bolted on to the Leon range in the UK as a top of the range Leon aimed at extracting a bit more from Leon customers, 25 per cent of whom were already opting for the previous range topper, the Leon FR. As expected the ML63 gets the new Mercedes twin-turbo 5.5 litre V8.In the ML63 it delivers 518bhp and 516lb/ft of torque enough, Mercedes say, to dispatch the 0-60mph sprint in a ridiculous 4.7 seconds and on to a limited 155mpoh top speed.
