Vehicles recalled amid airbags fear

JAPANESE car giants Honda, Mazda and Nissan are recalling millions of vehicles worldwide amid fears that a defect in airbags manufactured by supplier Takata Corp could cause them to explode. No accidents have been reported. Honda recalled 2.03 million vehicles over the airbag problem, including 1.02 million vehicles in North America and nearly 669,000 in Japan.

The new SMART City Car will be a giant – apparently It’s a bit of a cliche, but we’re not entirely sure Germans should use humour to promote their products. But SMART seem to have decided the way to go to tease the upcoming 2015 models of the SMART ForTwo and SMART ForFour is to try and convince that they’ve decided a small City Car is wrong and what we really need is a giant City Car. So we get two videos purporting to show what the new SMART City Cars offer – basically a SMART the size of a lorry – and set about convincing us, and gullible members of the public on camera, that this is indeed the route they’re going for the new SMART.

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is a month away, which means most teams are starting to feel the pressure of challenging one of the oldest races in the world. There might be a little extra anxiety this year for Hyundai driver Rhys Millen, whose father, Rod Millen, will make his return to the 156-turn mountain course. Rod Millen held the world record at Pikes Peak for 13 years with a time of 10 minutes, 4.06 seconds.
