Lutz, 78, had been serving as a senior adviser to GM Chairman and CEO Ed Whitacre after shelving retirement plans to take charge of the automaker's marketing after it emerged from bankruptcy in July 2009. An outspoken executive who both challenged global warming and championed GM's all-electric Volt, Lutz is credited with revitalizing GM's product development efforts after being hired by former GM CEO Rick Wagoner in 2001.
Economic downturn might hit plans for Porsche small roadster

Mueller said that if the automaker decides to go ahead with the car, sales would begin at the earliest in the third quarter of 2014, but probably later. A decision on production will depend on how the global economic situation pans out, particularly in relation to the auto industry, Mueller said.
Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition Laps the ‘Ring in 7:14.64 +video
Wed, 07 Sep 2011Lexus LFA Nurburgring sets a Lap Record at the Nordschleife The news that the Lexus LFA Nurburgring has lapped the track after which it is named in a remarkable 7:14.64 will bring a smile to the face of Hiromu Naruse, wherever he may be. Hiromu Naruse was considers by most whose opinion matters to be the ‘Godfather’ of the Japanese performance car’, and devoted most of the last decade of his life to honing and developing the LFA. He lost his life in an LFA Nurburgring Edition in the Summer of 2010 whilst testing the car near the Nurburgring itself, and it’s nice to think that if he’d still been with us, despite his age, it could well have been Naruse-san at the wheel.
