The Ford Mondeo Vignale (picture) has been revealed as Ford’s new range-topper Mainstream car makers have always tried to add some glitz and gloss to their models by tagging on a badge they thought made their cars more exclusive. Like Ford with endless ‘Ghia’ models sitting at the top of the Ford range after they bought Ghia of Turin in 1970. Ford continued to use the Ghia badge to mark out its best-equipped models until very recently (you could still buy a Fiesta Ghia as recently as 2008) but they finally dropped the badge and moved their top of the tree badge over to the ‘Titanium’ moniker.

Elon Musk says Top Gear responsible for poor Tesla Roadster sales in UK The moans by Tesla about the Top Gear episode where Jeremy Clarkson tested Tesla’s electric Lotus have rumbled on all year. First we had Tesla suing Top Gear in the British Courts, then Top Gear producer Andy Wilman had his say on the issue followed by Elon Musk saying that Top Gear had all the credibility of a Milli Vanilli Concert. We did think it had all been put to bed after the High Court decided that Top Gear did not libel Tesla in the episode featuring the Tesla Roadster running out of juice.

Honda showcases self-driving car

HONDA has shared its vision of the hands-free commute, a car that can safely drive itself on the road while the driver's hands are off the wheel. While the car is just a prototype, Honda says the technology could start appearing on Honda cars in 2020 and beyond. The prototype - an Acura RLX sedan - has cameras that monitor lane marking and multiple radar sensors on the front and sides.
