A classic road trip, circa 1923
Thu, 06 Oct 2011Many car enthusiasts would easily agree to a drive across the country. We're not sure whether Edgar "Ned" Wilcox was an enthusiast, but he did the trip--from Traverse City, Mich., to Tacoma, Wash., in 1923, driving a Case Six. The trip took Wilcox and his passengers 18 days, including delays for weather and mechanical issues.
Smokin' video: Ken Block carves up France's l'Autodrome in new Gymkhana run
Wed, 22 Sep 2010Rally star and DC Shoes purveyor Ken Block has delivered another piece of wild driving with his latest Gymkhana video--this time carving up the high-banked track at France's Linas at l'Autodrome. If you can dream it, Block can do it--180-degree and 360-degree turns and figure eights in a custom-built, all-wheel-drive Ford Fiesta. There's even a shower of sparks at the end.
Volvo XC30 for 2012
Fri, 19 Mar 2010It's starting to look as if the baby Volvo Crossover - the XC30 - is getting close The rumour mill has been working on a smaller crossover/SUV from Volvo for a long time – since just about the time that the Volvo C30 first hit the road. And it’s a car that makes a lot of sense, especially in the current market. So it’s not any sort of surprise to see the rumour resurface, but we’re a bit peeved to have missed (until now) the comment that’s being attributed to Lex Kerssemakers – Volvo’s Overseas Corporate Strategy President – from Geneva when he apparently said “There will be some further expansion of the XC range in the near future”.
