This is an OEM Smith's tachometer, RN 2301/03 for Austin-Healey BN4 from (c) 68960, BN6, BN7, BT7, BJ7. It is in overall excellent condition and in working order: the needle moves smoothly when attached to a drill. The glass is clear and unbroken. The interior sealing ring for the glass cover is pliable and without cracks. There is some modest pitting on perhaps one-quarter of the inner surface of the chrome bezel.

Now, what on earth, or for that matter not from earth have we got here? It's the Mercedes Biome concept supercar. It's a product of Merc's Los Angeles design studio, and they prefer to describe it as an 'Ultralight vehicle at one with nature.' The Biome was produced as part of the Los Angeles Design Challenge, taking part alongside the 2010 LA auto show.

'Top Gear' caught testing McLaren P1

The “Top Gear” boys were hanging in Belgium this week, shooting for the 21st season of the British television show. Some time next season we'll see the guys test this McLaren P1, caught by an observant YouTube poster. The video starts with the crew ogling the P1 supercar in the garage at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, before the camera car, a matte black Mercedes SUV, and the McLaren hit the track.
