V-Band Flanged Garrett GT4202, 74 mm , 1100 HP Race Turbo Exclusive Turbosystems proudly offers an authentic Garrett powerhouse, the GT4202 with a specially selected V-banded exhaust housing option. We start with the durable TV-series CHRA and blueprint every bearing inside to increase oil flow, bearing cooling efficiency as well as significantly lower internal friction. Heavily modified bearings offer full-circumference oil delivery to the turbine shaft. Each journal surface of the Inconel turbine shaft is polished to a hard smooth finish. Along with the tweaks applied to the thrust plate and collars, friction is cut by some 25% overall. After we wear out a carbide burr or two on the high-nickel content cast-iron turbine housing, it's internal passage surface is made ultra smooth with sanding wheels to increase gas velocity and energy available to accelerate the turbine wheel. This porting is complemented with similar effect on the ported-shroud compressor housing. These housings have been cast for reasonable airflow rates when employed in diesel tractor engine service, but our standards of compressor section efficiency are much higher. Much time and effort is spent in reshaping the 5" compressor inlet to reduce ingested air turbulence and increase volume. Even the compressor discharge has its cast surfaces sanded to form a smooth, high-velocity pathway for the pressurized air to easily move through. Instead of having a hose connection on the compressor discharger this turbocharger features a 3" (inside diameter) v-band connection that is perfect for constant high boost pressure levels that can exceed 2 and even 3-bar. Airflow through this precision-cast 74+ mm compressor wheel delivers well over 1000 horsepower worth of high-density air to the engine with ease. All of this is packed into a gasket-less large-frame turbocharger that mounts up easily with v-band connections at the turbine housing entry and exit.
After the porting is completed on the GT4202's housing passages we turn the carbide cutters and sanding tools loose on the compressor housing exterior. The ungainly machining fixture bosses are ground away and the curves become perfectly smooth after more than an hour of meticulous sanding. Lastly, following a good 2 hours on the buffer it glistens with a chrome-like polished finish for all to admire, or envy perhaps. This is an ideal V-8 engine turbocharger and works equally well on built import competition engines like 2JZ Supra, and both 2 and 3-rotor powerplants. Un-complicated 1100 HP turbocharger that delivers rock-solid performance well past boost pressures that cause lesser turbos to fall short and fail. Sun, 03 Jul 2011Salon Privé is billed as Britain's most elite car show and, with its lashings of pink champagne, lobster barbecue and attendees who look to have taken a wrong turn from the UK scripted-reality show, Made in Chelsea, it's certainly the glitziest. This year Salon Privé moved from its traditional home of The Hurlingham Club, just a (precious) stone's throw from the real-life set of the aforementioned show, to the grounds of Syon House in outer West London. Home to the Duke of Northumberland, Syon House's Italian Renaissance architecture and lush grounds provide a fitting background for such an event although those familiar with the locales of Villa d'Este on the shores of Lake Como, the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the heart of Lord March's idyllic West Sussex estate or the dramatic Californian coastline of Pebble Beach may be disappointed.

Thu, 10 Apr 2014The Peugeot Exalt Concept (pictured) now officially revealed We had the first photo of the Peugeot Exalt Concept earlier in the week, but now Peugeot has caught up with that reveal and released a gallery of photos of the Exalt and details too. With strong design hints from Peugeot’s Onyx Concept – like the long bonnet, short overhangs, bold wheel-arches and crisp lines – the Exalt appears to be a five-door hatch even though it looks like a four-door swoopy coupe. Peugeot has hand-made the bare metal body panels of the Exalt and covered it in part with a ‘Shark Skin’ material which is said to improve aerodynamics and fuel consumption.
