2013 facelift for the Mercedes E Class & Estate revealed

Thu, 13 Dec 2012

The 2013 Mercedes E Class and E Class Estate get a facelift with updates to the styling and engines and higher levels of equipment. The restyling of the 2013 E-Class is surprisingly comprehensive for what amounts to a mid-life facelift, with new single headlights replacing the old split lights, new grill – with the choice of a traditional grill or a sporty version (think SLC grill) – new bumpers, new bonnet, smoother haunches and a crease line down the side all the way to the new LED tail lights. Inside, the new E Class gets two part trim the extends right across the dash in either wood (if you’re old) or aluminium (if you’re not), new analogue clock in the middle between the air vents, new instrument cluster, new air vents, new centre console  and new steering wheel with a Direct Select lever and flappy paddles.

Porsche 911 Black Edition (2011) at 2011 Geneva motor show

Tue, 25 Jan 2011

The current Porsche 911 isn’t dead yet – this is the run-out Black Edition special. Just 1911 examples will ever be built, and it’s loaded with extras to keep 911 sales ticking over until the all-new version is unveiled later this year. Unlike the Carrera GTS, which is the most focussed (and brilliant) 911 this side of a Porsche Motorsport product, the Black Edition is based on the entry level Carrera.

Drivers feeling the squeeze on parking

Mon, 28 Jul 2014

MOTORISTS are feeling the squeeze on parking - with rising charges and fewer and smaller spaces, according to the RAC. As many as four in five drivers have reported increasing parking charges in towns and cities. And 67% of those drivers believed there was now less parking close to their town or city centre and that parking restrictions had become more stringent where they live.
