Honda Insight goes for $1,560 less with new base model

Honda slashed $1,560 from the base price of its Insight hybrid for the 2011 model year, creating a new entry-level trim that carries a sticker price of $18,950, including destination charges. The move gives the Insight a pricing edge of about $4,610 over the Toyota Prius. The Insight LX was the base model for the 2010 model year, and its price started at $20,510.

GT supercar designer leaving Ford

Designer Camilo Pardo, credited with drawing the Ford GT supercar, is leaving the automaker after a 24-year career with the company. Pardo, 45, confirmed to AutoWeek that he is leaving Ford, but he declined to give details. He said final details of his departure have yet to be worked out.

Ford MyKey system now limits cell phone use for teens

Ford's MyKey system has been able to limit speeds and audio volume to improve teen-driver safety. Now, new technology will allow the system to limit cell phone use as well. Launching on the 2012 Ford Explorer, the new technology means that, when hooked up to Sync, the teen's phone will send calls to voicemail and save texts for later reading, but drivers can still make voice-activated outgoing calls.
