Original Ford reference/repair manuals for the AX4N four speed automatic series transmissions.    The AX4N is an improved version of the basic AXOD, and is more reliable. This transaxle shifting is non-sequential (as indicated by the "N" in AX4N) and has improved shift quality over the previous AX4S. Although similar in design and dimensions, it is a different transaxle than previous AXOD transmissions. The AX4N has 19 bolts to retain the fluid pan. It was used in the 1996–99 Taurus SHO models, and was standard on Duratec-powered models. It also appears in some 1994–2002 Vulcan-powered models. It became standard with both engines in 2003. It was renamed the 4F50N in 2001.

This auction is for both manuals, VOL A AND VOL B.  Two fairly large books!

This AX4N came in the following vehicles and more in  1994 1995 1996 1997 1998 1999 2000 2001:

1996-1999 Taurus SHO
1994- 2001 Taurus
1994-2007 Lincoln Continental
1994-2005 Mercury Sable
2001-2003 Ford Windstar
2004-2007 Mercury Monterey

I like these books because they have the different sections very well layed out complete with color circuit drawings and pictures, Theory of Operations: to tell you how it works, then Diagnostic Sections/Procedures to help you find the problem, Sub Assembly operations,  Disassembly Section, and Reassembly section.   Same books the dealer mechanics used!

From a closed dealership...although almost like new if not new.  Dusty.   Big book packed with lots of info!

Marcello Gandini laments today's 'fake' concepts

Tue, 12 Nov 2013

Marcello Gandini has branded current concept cars fakes and "little more than maquettes" in an interview about Bertone's extensive concept car history. The enigmatic designer, whose work with the design house stretches back to the late ‘60s, expressed his dislike of today's "fiberglass cars" and claims they can't hold a candle to the well-built concepts of old. He praises Nuccio Bertone's vision and his insistence on producing fully working, "almost driveable" concepts throughout the coachbuilder's existence.

Toyota and Mercedes-Benz are top global car brands

Sun, 23 Oct 2011

Toyota & Mercedes-Benz are the Top Global Automotive Brands 2011 Interbrand, a branding consultancy, delivers a report on the world’s brands every year, and in 2011, despite recall woes and the devastation of the Japanese Tsunami, Toyota leads the automotive brands, with luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz just behind. Interbrand uses three measures to gauge how effective a brand is – performance of branded product, the brands ability to secure earnings and the role of the brand in purchasing decisions – to come up with a chart of the top 100 world brands. At the top of the tree are companies like Coca Cola, IBM, Microsoft and Google, but car brands do well with Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Honda, VW, and Ford all making it in to the top 50.
