Avalex Technologies' Digital Map System Earns FAA Certification

Avalex Technologies recently earned a federal government certification for its Digital Map System that is instrumental in attracting new commercial and military business.

The Supplemental Type Certificate, or STC, awarded to Avalex by the Federal Aviation Administration, is for work done for the Eurocopter EC-145 (MMB-BK 117 C-2) helicopter.

"This is great recognition of the high-quality system solutions that Avalex provides," says Mark Eberhard, Business Development Director for the Pensacola, FA, company. "We have proven once again that we provide rugged and reliable technologies and we are a trusted partner."

Avalex's Digital Map System (AMS7102) is used on EC-145s in EMS and law enforcement communities. The STC is a requirement and qualifies Avalex's system to be used on the U.S. Army and National Guard UH-72A Lakota or Light Utility Helicopter (LUH).

The LUH was acquired as a Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS)/Non-Developmental Item (NDI) aircraft that was FAA Type Standard Certified and is being maintained to retain that certification throughout its life cycle.

That's because a car's computerized systems are as prone to hacking as your malware-laden desktop.

Wed, 12 Mar 2014

THE BATTLE for hearts and minds in the city has just got hotter with the launch of Citroen’s second generation C1 urban runabout. Although the diminutive French hatch shares much with its Peugeot 108 and Toyota Aygo stablemates, the C1’s bold new exterior look shares more with recent arrivals such as the firm’s new Picasso people carrier. On sale in July, UK buyers will be able to choose from three trim levels with prices ranging from £8,245 for the entry-level Touch to £11,935 for the range-topping Flair.
