There are three easy ways to tell is you have a Beetle or a Super Beetle. Pop up the front hood and see if the spare tire is lying flat or vertical. All Super Beetles have their tires lying flat. Then look behind the front wheels. If you see a large spring surrounding a strut, then it is a Super Beetle. If you see a shock, then it is a regular beetle. Take a look to see how many ball joints your VW has. Beetles have 4 ball joints; (2 upper & 2 lower). Super Beetles have only two ball joints.
