Volkswagen has revealed the first details of its seventh-generation Golf--including a classy new interior--at a heavily cloaked press event ahead of the car's official unveiling in September in Berlin. The Golf, VW's perennial best seller, has raked in worldwide sales of more 29 million cars over 38 years of production. The new model, which is described as being up to 23 percent more economical than its predecessor, is planned to go on sale across Europe in November, replacing today's model, introduced in 2008.

And that was about it for the Czech marque this year; 2008 is a bit of a slow period for Skoda, before the product onslaught begins in earnest next year. RM Auctions recorded a 100 percent sell-through rate at its Vintage Motor Cars of Hershey (Pa.) event. With more than 140 vehicles featured, the auction house posted $8.8 million in total sales. There was worldwide interest for the cars as bidders on the phone and the Internet represented 18 different countries, including Argentina, Turkey and Australia.
