Description:

1998-2002 Dodge Cummins 5.9L Pickup, Extended Cab

4" stainless constant-diameter pipes and polished straight-thru muffler outflow stock, slash backpressure and lower EGTs; sounds cool; 5" polished tip looks cool!

Constant-diameter to slash backpressure and lower exhaust gas temperatures, Banks' Monster exhaust pipes bolt behind the turbocharger. The streamlined 4" turbine outlet pipe, head pipe, intermediate pipe and tailpipe are formed of stainless, heavy-wall tubing with constant-diameter bends to outflow stock and the competition. Banks replaces the factory's restrictive muffler with a polished-stainless Monster muffler, featuring a straight-through 4"-diameter flow-path with a Banks-designed expansion chamber to dissipate the annoying mid-range exhaust drone that plagues most straight-through mufflers. Muffler utilizes spun ceramic, very-high-temperature packing and delivers an authoritativebut never intrusiveexhaust sound. The huge 5" polished-stainless steel tailpipe tip sports a rolled edge. Double-walled design with 1/2" air gap keeps heat from tarnishing exterior mirror finish. Adjustable clamp for positioning on tailpipe. Extension pipe included for extended-cabs.

MG SV returns, TF founders

Tue, 15 Apr 2008

By Keith Adams (additional reporting by Russell Gowers) Motor Industry 15 April 2008 10:14 In the latest twist of the MG Rover saga, and three years after the original MG XPower SV supercar went out of production, the controversial coupe has made a surprise re-appearance. However, the likelihood of us ever seeing the reborn TF roadster seems to be receding by the week. Now known as the XPower WR, the Qvale Mangusta-based supercar has been eased back into production by William Riley – a descendant of the creators of the historic car company bearing the same name. His company, known as MG Sports and Racing Europe Limited, produces the supercharged WR, selling it for between £75,000 and £90,000 depending in specification. The rights to the car – and its badge – were bought from MG Rover administrators PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2005.

Audi RS5 TDI Concept gets electric turbo and 380bhp

Wed, 28 May 2014

The Audi RS5 TDI Concept (pictured) gets an electric turbo It’s two years since Audi revealed it was working on an electric turbo to be used in a twin-turbo setup, with the electric turbo able to offer boost pressure from much lower down the rev range than a normal turbo. That has turned in to the Audi RS5 TDI Concept, where Audi has replaced the normal RS5‘s V8 with a 3.0 litre TDI engine with a small electric turbo for low rev work and a bigger turbo to do the higher rev stuff. The electric turbo works from the off to provide maximum torque of 553lb/ft from just 1250rpm, before the bigger normal turbo takes over at 3,000rpm to continue the boost.

Electroluminescent Lumilor coating transforms any surface into a lamp

Wed, 17 Sep 2014

Thanks to advances in LED and lasers, an emphasis on lamp design is a rapidly growing trend. But what if any or all of a car's surfaces, inside or out, could become lamps at the flick of a switch? That question has been partially answered by Darkside Scientific.
