The Banks Ram-Air Intake System delivers exceptional airflow and air density. Its large cotton gauze air filter requires fewer cleanings than competitive filters (stock's small paper filter is not reusable). With its giant 7-1/8" outlet, streamlined components and enclosed cold-air box that keeps hot engine air out of the intake, the Ram-Air flows up to 57% better than stock and up to 23% better than competitors. In addition to greater power, you'll enjoy improved fuel economy, lower exhaust gas temps and reduced black smoke. (An indicator of unburned fuel, black smoke is power you can see but not use!)

And Banks' unique 4-1/2" bellows accommodates engine movement, which prevents component damage and prolongs service life. Designed to not cause fault or error codes; lifetime warranty on filter element.

WHY BANKS?
The Banks Ram-Air Intake System is engineered for long-lasting performance, tough-as-nails durability and factory reliability. For example, our design includes bellows, which allows for engine movement, protecting the turbo and promoting longevity.
The stock air intake system is highly restrictive. The cramped outlet has tight bends, the filter design is inefficient with minimal filtering area, and the air that it does draw in is warmer and less dense. The Banks Ram-Air Intake System is "clean-sheet" engineered to minimize restriction, maximize flow and filter area, and draw cooler, denser air from outside the engine compartment.

Game Changer? Ford has high hopes for '11 Explorer

Sun, 25 Jul 2010

Ford wants you to forget everything you know, or think you know, about its Explorer. The company has high hopes for its all-new SUV, and rightfully so. It's one of the most recognizable nameplates in the auto industry with, according to Ford, a 95 percent name-recognition rate.

2013 facelift for the Mercedes E Class & Estate revealed

Thu, 13 Dec 2012

The 2013 Mercedes E Class and E Class Estate get a facelift with updates to the styling and engines and higher levels of equipment. The restyling of the 2013 E-Class is surprisingly comprehensive for what amounts to a mid-life facelift, with new single headlights replacing the old split lights, new grill – with the choice of a traditional grill or a sporty version (think SLC grill) – new bumpers, new bonnet, smoother haunches and a crease line down the side all the way to the new LED tail lights. Inside, the new E Class gets two part trim the extends right across the dash in either wood (if you’re old) or aluminium (if you’re not), new analogue clock in the middle between the air vents, new instrument cluster, new air vents, new centre console  and new steering wheel with a Direct Select lever and flappy paddles.

Five least-green vehicles

Wed, 29 Jan 2014

We are a generation seemingly obsessed with the environment, eager to cover our carbon footprints in any way possible--or at least give off a green vibe visible to our neighbors). And though many car buyers are jumping on the hybrid and electric bandwagons, the majority of us still crave brute-power cars and trucks. While being environmentally friendly is nice, there comes a time when you just have to be mean -- eco-mean, in this case.
