Ferrari F12 & Eric Clapton’s Ferrari SP12 EC at Goodwood

The Ferrari F12 Berlinetta (pictured) will be at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed The 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed starts on Thursday with the Moving Motor Show, and Ferrari are planning a good turnout including the F12 Berlinetta popping its Goodwood Cherry. It’s nearly eighteen months since the Ferrari F12 was revealed, but this coming weekend it will get a chance to strut its 731bhp up the Goodwood hillclimb. With a 0-62mph of just 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 211mph (which isn’t that important up the hillclimb) the F12 promises a stunning spectacle for Goodwood’s visitors.

PM opens Williams F1’s new Advanced Engineering Centre

Prime minister David Cameron has today opened Williams Racing’s new £8 million Advanced Engineering Centre in Grove, Oxford. The new facility will help transfer Williams’ four decades of title-winning F1 expertise into the world of road cars – and the PM has challenged the engineers working there to continue helping Britain compete on the world stage by developing new business opportunities. VW Design Vision GTI gets 500bhp: Worthersee

The Design Vision GTI is built to show what a Golf built for racing would look like – and perhaps point to future evolutions of VW’s most successful car – and is built on the same MQB platform as the regular GTI. It’s a bit shorter (15mm) than a regular Golf, a chunk wider (71mm) and a lot lower (57mm) which conspires to make the Design Vision GTI much more aggressive looking than its mainstream sibling. Power comes from a 3.0 litre V6 with two turbos – good for 500bhp and 413lb/ft of torque – which is driven to all four wheels through a DSG ‘box and can scoot to 62mph in a supercar-like 3.9 seconds on its way to 186mph.
