Who’s Where: Peter Horbury appointed Senior Vice President Design at Geely Group
Thu, 03 Nov 2011Peter Horbury, presently Vice President of Design at Volvo Car Corporation, is set to join a growing roster of design directors who have relocated to China – the most recent being Gert Hildebrandt who was appointed Design Director at Chery Quantum Auto Co. (a joint venture between Chery Automobile, China's largest independent car manufacturer, and Israel Corp.) earlier this year. Horbury, who will be taking up a new position as Senior Vice President of Design at Geely Group, will be based in Sanya, in the Hainan Province of China.
BMW i3 Coupe & 3 Series GT: Geneva Motor Show 2013
Fri, 08 Mar 2013The new BMW offerings at Geneva are the debut of the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo and the European debut of the BMW i3 Coupe Concept. There’s nothing at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show from BMW that will set the column inches flowing, but BMW does have a couple of debuts in Switzerland to tickle interest – the 3 Series GT and the i3 Coupe Concept. The BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo comes under the heading of ‘Why would you build that’ (although, to be fair, we thought the same about the 6 Series Gran Coupe until we reviewed it) when BMW already offers the 3 Series Touring and, if you want something bigger, the 5 Series.
Northumbria University degree show 2010
Fri, 06 Aug 2010Northumbria University's Transportation Design undergraduate degree course has gained a strong reputation over its relatively short history. Once an entirely independent course, it is now more closely aligned with the Design School's highly regarded Industrial Design program. This year, 16 students displayed a wide range of projects from traditional automotive designs through to more product design work as disparate as storage and even a publishing solution.
