While the Mini Countryman might be destined for suburban mumsville, BMW has confirmed the new model will also terrorise the countryside in the form of the WRC Mini from 2011, with IRC champ Kris Meeke at the wheel. Officially launched at the 2010 Paris motor show in concept guise, the WRC Mini will be engineered and run by motorsport doyen Dave Richards and his Prodrive outfit, although customer packages will be available too, allowing independents to compete in the car. Infiniti to get Audi A3 fighter in product blitz

Nissan plans to introduce a compact, entry-level Infiniti model below the G series to compete against such cars as the Audi A3 and Lexus CT 200h. The car would be part of a global product blitz to build Infiniti's lineup to 10 vehicles from seven by 2017. The car would be based on the Etherea concept shown in March at the Geneva auto show, a person familiar with the plan says.

A new Ferrari museum opened this weekend in Modena celebrating the life and work of Enzo Ferrari, the legend behind the Italian supercar icon. The €18 million Museo Casa Enzo Ferrari, which is built on the ruins of the birthplace of Enzo Ferrari, not only features iconic Ferraris from throughout the company's existence but also includes other cars with links to the Modena valley area. The new gallery – crafted from yellow aluminum, the color of Modena and the prancing horse logo's background – not only charts the key moments in Enzo's life but also showcases how Modena became the traditional home of other iconic Italian supercar makers such as Maserati, De Tomaso and Pagani.
